This is my story as someone active in the social media business. A story that I hope can make you also motivated to create better content on the internet.

Last week on normal busy days, after checking the content that was just posted and making sure the content was posted as it should, I start to reply to the comments that came in, And I got a comment that surprised me. It’s just a short comment, but I think it’s so meaningful. I screenshot the comment below 🙂

What do you think about that comment?
Maybe for you, it’s just a normal comment or even often get comments like that.
But for me?
I was really touched to get comments like that.
It’s the first time and I hope not the last.
Nowadays, when creating a campaign about a brand, I only focus on how the content attracts awareness and also gets engagement from the audience.
Then forgets that our audience is human.
And what is humanity desperately looking for in this world?

It’s Happiness.

In today’s internet, it’s easier to find content that contains hate, hoax information, excessive political content, and other spam content.

The rapid spread of information through social media causes a lot of information received and it is very difficult to be able to filter information that we should not need to consume as humans.

I end my story today, by inviting all internet users, especially content creators and social media managers to not forget and always remember to make friendly content to all peoples and also to spread happiness through the content that you create.

Cheers,

Adhika Susilo

Are you just getting started with a social media plan for your hotel? Need a checklist to help you maximize your social media marketing strategy? The listing breaks the essential tasks down for social media manager for a hotel business. In this checklist, I will explain how to get the best result engagement while maintaining brand value on your social media campaign.

  • Strategy

Having a social media marketing strategy will help you execute your goals, and how you measure success. And also, your strategy can be used as a guide to keeping you on track with the value of your business.

  • Links

Without a link in a social media post, you’re keeping your audience to not moving them towards a landing page, booking page, or promotion. The links on your posts complete the message that you’re trying to deliver.

  • Clear Message – The Power of Images

It’s easy to write social media posts that sell. But, it’s much harder to craft ones that provide engagement. As a social media manager, you come to a
complicated road of social media. On one hand, you’re trying to deliver the value of your business and on the other hand, you want to convert many leads for sales.

It is a research-proven that we rely on our emotions, to purchase a product or service. And also because of this, personalities that companies take on biggest impact the customer decision process. Trend of social media marketing strategies now about creating a conversation with your
customer, and getting to know them personally, just as you do in real life.

Don’t forget that your audiences are human, and humans are highly visual creatures. Research shows that an estimated 90% of the information that comes to our brains is visual. So, if you’re not using the best images you have as part of your social media post, you’re doing it wrong.

  • User-Generated Content

Many of today’s top resort and hotel brands are already using User Generated Content as part of their marketing strategy. The most common use of UGC for a hotel business is for social media posts, website and also their advertising campaigns. Because instead of just telling guests about your beautiful pool, you need to show them from the customer perspective. Photos of an empty pool on a perfect sunny day are less helping them imagine themselves there enjoying it.

  • Hashtag

Hashtags have different relevance and utility on every social media platform. As a result, under or over-hashtagging your content could have a negative impact on your social efforts. Some hashtags are definitely more popular than others, but popular is not always the way to go. You want to reach a targeted audience. Rather than trying to come up with hashtags all travelers are searching for, use those that only some are searching for.

  • Analytic

After you launch your social media strategy, if you don’t take the time to understand what is and isn’t working, all your efforts will be for nothing. Make an effort to understand what your guests are saying about your brand, combine that with your analytics, and you’ll have the best formula for a powerful marketing campaign.

  • New Trends and Ideas

There’s much to consider when developing a marketing plan for your hotel. The scope and opportunities are massive in our current climate. The truth is, there is no one-fits-all tactic to get social media marketing campaign success. A tactic that’s working great now probably not get the same results in a few weeks. As a result, you should always be testing and experimenting with new ideas. Stick to your brand message and your marketing strategy so you did not get lost in the way

Step by step to build a social media marketing strategy for your hotel business. I recommend you who work as marketing communication but did not have digital marketing basic at all to read this. Get your coffee and here we go!

1. Build your team!

No, you can’t do this alone. If you think social media is just getting some good photos and then post it. You better slap your face first and wake up. Most of the Hotel Manager did not understand this. Social media marketing is changing. And I can say that they always level up their game every time.

How many people you should get in one team? I will recommend peoples with these skills in your team. Consist of photographer, videographer, graphic designer, copywriter, analytic, and strategist. Some peoples maybe have 2 skills in one person, for example, I have few friends with photography and also graphic designer skills, but make sure if you want him or her doing 2 tasks in one time, he or she really understand what you want and your goals. Because if you want make an outstanding social media marketing, you want every idea coming and make them come true right? And in the end, it will make you reach your goals.

2. Know your company and product and the lifestyles behind it.

How far you know your product and also your brand? Like the history of your company? The up and down that your company faced since they were born. What you can learn from it? What kind of content you can bring to your audiences from it?

What is your product? What kind of peoples purchase your product? Why they buy it? When they buy it? How is the process of purchasing your product? What kind of peoples purchase your product? Why they buy it? When they buy it? How is the process of purchasing your product?

Make sure you know the answers before you continue to the next step!

3. Audit your Social Media Channel

Know yourself, know your customer then Innovate.

Take a look at where you are. Ask these question and answer it:
– Which channel are you currently active on?
– Are your channels already maximize to the full extent?
– Which channel bringing you the most value and revenue?
– How do your profiles look for you and your audiences?
(Ask a few friends and get some insight from them)

4. Create Audience Persona

Knowing who and where your audiences and what they want to see on your profile is one of the keys to creating content that they will like, comment, and share. You will want to get as specific as possible with this part. Don’t make assumptions. Get more data on your social media insight. Which content that gets most likes, comments, shares, reach and impression. You can use that as a starting point. To create an audience persona, answer this question:

  • Age
  • Location
  • Job Title
  • Income
  • Relationship status
  • Favorite social media they use & when they use it.

5. Set a GOAL

Set a goal. There are a lot of goals out there. Make sure you have a specific one at a time and make a deadline for each of it.

Your goals could be awareness, engagement or conversion, depends on your current situation right now. You have to put your social media marketing strategy at the right funnel. Read more about Digital Marketing Funnel here. You and all your teams need to be in the same line to reach this goal. And don’t forget to set a timeline on your goals.
And also prepare details for your next goals!

6. Research your Competitors & Get Inspirations!

Your competitor may get a step ahead from you, but it’s not that bad because actually you can learn from them. Yes, learn from them! Which channel they use and which one is getting the best feedback from their audiences, what kind of content they usually post, what time they post. Because maybe you have the same targeted customer. And remember this, don’t copy-paste their content, innovate their contents!

Get inspirations from your team, your boss, your sales team (because most of the customers engage with them directly), and other peoples who work in your company. Get useful insight from them!

7. Create your Unique, Engaging & Original Content.

“Content is the King”

You must have heard of this saying before, and yes it’s true. Content is your weapon on the Internet, it’s what you present to the world. It’s how the universe sees your brand.

Unfortunately, most social media teams in hotel businesses jump straight to this step. Don’t be like them, okay? Choose what kind of content you want to post. Is it photos? Videos? Blog post? Article?
Put every resource you have in this step. Every skill and ideas. Connect with each other to make outstanding content that will get your customer’s attention. Support your team, buy some lightroom presets for your photos, get every related hashtag and put it in your caption, use emoticon or gif if that’s not ruining your brand image. And engage with your audience. Reply to every comment, say thank you if they share your content. Give your audience feedback for every traffic coming from them.

8. TTAAO (Test, Track, Analyze, Adjust, Optimize)

Test some content first, make a few good and not so good content and post it. See how your audience reacts and learns from it.

Track your content. Either it’s good or bad, see how far your content go. Is it share-able content? Did it make your customers go to your goals or landing page?

Analyze your content. Did your hashtag get enough reach and impression? Which hashtag gives you the best result? Did your caption make your customer engage with you? Analyze which one gives you best and bad result

Adjust your content and strategy. Take away bad things, apply every part that gives you good results to optimize your social media marketing.

Personal Tips:

  1. Invest in Social Media Management Tools. I recommend you to use Later. Their price is cheaper than most social media tools out there. And their analytical tools are great too! One of the features I like is hashtag analytics. Later can show you which hashtag that gives you the most reach and impression. I use it to manage 4 social media account and they work really great!
  2. Don’t talk about you, Talk about your customer.
The statistic has proved that user-generated content is the most engaging content. For me, I have a strategy about user-generated content but my situation right now, makes me can’t do that. Maybe next year? If the trend is not already changed lol. You want to discuss and talk with me about this? Hit my Facebook and Instagram DM!
    Or coffee with me?

About 2 weeks ago, twitter users in Indonesia about to explode after well-known Social Media Influencers tweet about exposure:

she already deleted the tweet

And the responses are just perfect,

Are you smart enough?
Agreed
This meme always cracks me..

I’m not saying that it’s not allowed or even banned by the law. And I’m not saying it’s fair for the business owner either. But if you understand what she is doing or what kind of feedback she willing to give as one of the biggest Social Media Influencer in Indonesia (4,6 M Followers on her Instagram, 196K followers on Twitter), it’s kind of make sense why she does that.

So, what is the exposure that social media influencer sells to you as a business owner?

Social media exposure is an important part of your internet campaign but is not the only technique that is used to make your online marketing success.

But I’m going to explain it this way:

Social Media Exposure is 100% Brand Awareness

Yes, of course, you can disagree with me. But here, I’m trying to explain Social media Exposure from the Influencers side.

How it works:

When influencers post your brand or your product in their feed or their stories, their audiences or their fans from many kinds of peoples or you can say it’s your prospective buyer, they see it. and now, they know about your brand and also your product.

Now my question, after their audiences see it…..

Did it give you traffic to your landing page? By how much?

Did they engage with your brand? By how much?

Did their audiences actually buy your product?

Can you give the exact number from their audiences that convert to buying your product?

I guess nobody can’t give the exact right answer.

Because it’s too random and sometimes it also depends on the trends of the internet.

Do you understand what I’m trying to explain?

If not, or you want to add something, I’m very open to discussion. Hit my DM on Facebook, Instagram or coffee with me?

I will try to explain more on the next post, maybe a few tricks on how to get more sales with influencer marketing.

Thank you for reading this!

How much is living cost in Bali?

“is it possible to live in Bali with a mid-low salary?

“how much is the price of food there?”

“There are a lot of foreigners, everything must be expensive there”

I got few questions like that from my friends after I moved to Bali about 2 months ago. Well honestly at first I felt pessimistic. especially with my salary now. because with the amount of my salary now if I still live in Semarang I can still enjoy life while drinking geisha coffee regularly hahaha.

I got inspired to write this article after reading Jenny Jusuf’s blog. What she wrote was pretty clear to describe how to prepare a budget for living in Bali. But in this post, I will write my version. So enjoy and I hope this post can help you if someday you live here or maybe today you already planning to move here 🙂

Accommodation

There are lots of choices. For example price range in the area of Denpasar. From the price of Rp 500,000,- until Rp 2,500,000,-. More expensive the price, the more complete the facilities will be. Boarding house with a price of 500,000 – 1,000,000 is usually equipped with an inside bathroom, kitchen inside, with room size around 3×4 meters. Some are equipped with air conditioners and also available parking for cars and some not. But almost all boarding houses with this price range do not provide mattresses and cabinets, so when you arrive, be prepared to spend extra money to buy it. But with that price sometimes you will also find a place with outside bathrooms. This is one tip from me if you want to find a place with cheap price try looking near the campus. As for boarding houses with a price of Rp 1,000,000,- until Rp 2,500,000,- most of them are already complete with bathrooms with hot water, kitchens, mattresses, cabinets, tables, air conditioners, wifi. Room size was varied, from 4×5 meters to 5 x 10 meters. You can find more ads on Facebook Group or Instagram.

Food!!!

good food = good life

do you agree with me?

The price of foods here also varies. Cheap food that is my favorite here is nasi jinggo. The price is only Rp 5000,-, indeed not as cheap as Nasi Kucing ala angkringan in Jogja or Semarang or other places in Java. But the portions are more and the taste is more delicious. Maybe because nasi jinggo wrapped in banana leaves compared to nasi kucing which wrapped in scrap paper lol.

More food choices? There are a lot of cafes, restaurants or bistro. But I’m not used to buying food in cafes, restaurants, bistros or other instagramable places. Why? because my salary doesn’t allow me. I’m not picky when it comes to food. It’s not important if the food is spicy, sweet or salty because most important about food is LARGE PORTION!!! HAHAHAHAHA. Places to eat near campus usually have cheaper prices than places to eat in tourist attractions like Kuta or Ubud. Just explore places to eat near where you live until you find one that suits your taste and your wallet 😉

Lifestyle, Entertainment and Pleasure

I agree with what Jenny Jusuf said“Keunggulan besar tinggal di Bali dibandingkan kota-kota lain adalah … well, it’s Bali. You don’t need to spend much on entertainment”Hang out on the beach? buy it in Circle K or bring your food and beers (spend money for parking only Rp. 1,000,- – Rp. 5000,-). You can find many kinds of entertainment here. From night clubs to cool breeze of mountains and Batur lakes and also hot springs. The price is still affordable as long as you don’t go every day! : D

I guess that’s all I can tell you, I live in a boarding house with a rental fee of Rp 900,000, – (empty room with air conditioner, beyond the electricity and water cost). I bought my bed and cabinet. It’s cheaper and later when I will move from Bali, It will be sell again wkwk. Oh, I didn’t include transportation costs here because I bought a used motorbike when I arrived in Bali. It’s more flexible and my job needs me to have it my own.

My favorite place for entertainment and holiday here is the beach and go to a coffee shop (obviously). Usually, I go to the beach at weekends and enjoy the sunset with a bottle of beer in my hands. Sounds lovely right? My favorite coffee shop so far is Secondfloor Bali (this place has a great signature drink, fast wifi and not too crowded) and Karakter Kopi (the only coffee shop near my place that provides geisha coffee and this place always crowded every day).

If you want to ask anything about living in Bali, I’m happy to answer or give you any recommendations. Just comment below or say hello here 😉 or maybe let’s grab a cup of coffee, shall we?

Do you still remember your first cup of coffee? Did it taste terrible? too bitter? too hot? too much sugars you pour without tasting it first? A lot of peoples must had the same experiences. Believe it or not the first cup of coffee we try at first have a lot of influences on how we drink coffee in the present. And that still does not calculates the influence of baristas and coffee shops serving our first cup of coffee.

Back to the title, more coffee you drink, the happier yo will be. Is it true? How? or why drink coffee when you could had beers? well i’m not going to explain how the differences between coffee and beer because i rarely drink beer. I’m going to split the explanations into two part. First part i will explain from my experiences and what i learn in past 3 years. And second part is from science and what i read on the internet (with trusted source :D).

From my experiences: (i will explain it later :D)

  1. The coffee.
  2. The price
  3. The barista.
  4. The coffee shop
  5. The partner.

From science:

Two reasons: Scientists have known for many years that coffee stimulates the release of the neurotransmitter dopamine. Dopamine produces the euphoria and pleasant feelings that people often associate with their first cup of coffee in the morning. Many drugs that produce euphoria, such as cocaineamphetamine and ecstasy, act upon dopamine in the brain. This action by coffee has always been an adequate explanation for why caffeine is the most widely consumed psychoactive substance in the world.

When you first started drinking coffee, the arousal was all you wanted and also all that you got.  Still, being more attentive and vigilant was all you needed to get through the day. As you continued drinking coffee your liver compensated for the additional chemicals in your diet by becoming more efficient at metabolizing the caffeine. Your brain also made some adjustments. Ultimately, you needed more and more coffee each day to achieve the same level of arousal and vigilance. While all of this was occurring, something else far more mysterious was happening inside your brain; caffeine had begun stimulating your brain’s endogenous marijuana neurotransmitter system. These biochemical adjustments introduced an entirely new level of pleasure to your morning cup of java.  In addition, it made avoiding that third or fourth cup of coffee even harder to accomplish.

The effects don’t stop in your brain, but start to have an impact throughout your whole body. As you continue to consume more caffeine, you’ll feel jittery and have an increased heart rate. The caffeine in your coffee will block the breakdown of certain messengers throughout your body, including the pathway that signals a fight or flight response. So, go ahead and blame that one time you lashed out at your boss on all that coffee you consumed that day. This same response raises your heart rate and increases blood pressure to allow more oxygen to your brain

Coffee makes us feel so good because it is able to tap into virtually every reward system our brain has evolved. Hidden within that hot black silken elixir is a chemical that has taken over your brain by mimicking the actions of cocaine and marijuana. It’s too late, go ahead and have another cup; I’m going to.

If you’re concerned if coffee is good for you, remember this: caffeine is just like you and me, there’s some good in us and some bad. So, enjoy your daily dose.

I always wanted to share my coffee experiences. I want to share it in my instagram but i can’t share much because i’m lazy to post hahaha. So because of this new blog i want to try sharing my previous lovely geisha coffee. Where else if not my favourite coffee shop ever Joko Kopi. I promise i will tell you everything about Joko Kopi next time. Have you ever tried drink your coffee with a beautiful rice field scenery? You only can find that experiences there.

I forgot exactly when i drink this coffee, but its about end of August i think. The coffee is….*drum sound* ….. PANAMA ESMERALDA PORTON PASCUA roasted by THF Coffee. Brewed by Haritsah my favourite barista too. a bit arrogant but all the coffee brewed by him was always delightful. Brewed with walkure methods.

I will let pictures tell you about how this coffee brewed 😉

Cleaning the tools!

after grinding. Can’t wait!

heaven aroma all over the place….

finishing..

finally!

My personal score: 9.5/10

Tasting notes as written in the pack: Intense jasmine, apricot and honey.

The jasmine aroma is all over my mouth. And the after taste? just perfect. Sweet sweet sweet honey and the apricots is balancing with the taste of this coffee.

This is all i got for now. Sorry for bad explanation because usually i couldn’t talk much and fell asleep after drinking geisha coffee lol.

See you in next panama geisha review! Please comment below if you have same experiences with me or maybe better. And also please recommend me a coffee shop that you loved and i should try their coffee 🙂

Nb: This post written in Mitos Kopi and completed in Karakter Kopi in Bali. while sipping a cup of Bali Kintamani 😉

You peoples must already heard about lombok earthquake that happened in 29 July 2018. And yes that was very sad to hear. Short story, 4 days after the earthquakes happen. I decided to bought a plane ticket to lombok as a volunteer. No preparations, no plans, a lot of work to do but only eagerness to help peoples there. FYI, i have no idea what i’m going to do or i’m going to sleep in Lombok because i have no one that i know. One thing in my mind only peoples in lombok need help and i want to help.

So i was in Lombok from 8 August until 14 August. I took transit plane from Semarang –  Surabaya – Lombok. I was in Surabaya about 5 hours. In 5 hours i managed to find recruitment for volunteers for Lombok earthquake that opened by one of the Islamic Student Organization in Lombok. I was happy at first because their programs was so good and i’m so ready to help! After i was invited in whatsapp group i find a friend from Semarang too. Her name is windy (pretty girl, love hiking, but a crazy one. She only brought one set of underwear for one week in Lombok! thats just crazy enough for me). Im arrived in Lombok airport about 4 pm and then i took DAMRI Bus to go to Lombok City. It’s only 30-45 minutes depends by the traffic. But at that time the road was so empty because of the earthquakes. The locals was afraid to go outside and almost all of tourist already evacuated to safer place. After i arrived at the city, windy promised me to pick me up at the bus station. She was with a Gojek driver that give me and Windy free ride because he know that me and Windy is volunteers to help Lombok earthquake victims. What a nice guy! I really wish he got good fortune.

After i met with windy, because of something that can’t be told. Me and Windy decided to not join that Islamic student organization. And because its already dark, we decided to find a hotel to stay that night because it’s too dangerous if we go to basecamp that day. We approached about 5-6 hotels because we want to find hotel that safe to stay. It’s really dangerous if we stay at hotel in second or third floor because you know lah, it’s difficult to run away if earthquake happened again that night. Especially with fat guy like me lol. There is a few guest houses that give free place to stay but we choose to get more comfortable hotel to take a good rest.

First funny story at Lombok, just after we ready to sleep i check my friends whatsapp status, and i saw an update from coordinator in islamic student organization that said that windy, my new friend that i just met and sleeping next to me (Oh yes, we slept in one room but different bed to safe money lol) is a missing person and he also stated that she died that evening…………….I was shocked and confused. Which one should i believe. Did i was sleeping next to a ghost or the update from the coordinator is a hoax.  Have you ever in condition asking a person “hey, did you just die? Which one is true?”

Continue soon!
